Thank you for joining us as we discover how Mr. Teddy Bear came to bake a birthday cake for Anne, Princess Royal.

Teddy Bear was at home watching his favorite show, The Amazing Adventures of Tom Duncan when the phone rang. His mommy answered it, and he could hear her chattering with the caller. After a moment of silence, she became quite excited. Giddy even.
After hanging up the phone, she approached her hesitant son and told him that she had some amazing news.
“My Aunt Edna has invited us to attend her charity bake off in London. It will be held at Great St. Bart’s and will be attended by Princess Anne,” said mommy bear.
Teddy began to relax. However, he didn’t recognize that name.
“She is the Queen’s daughter,” prompted mommy. “Did you want to come with me?”
Teddy had been to Aunt Edna’s house. She has frozen cookie dough balls in her freezer! He would love to go to Aunt Enda’s house.
“Well, the event is on Monday, the fifteenth. So, we have to leave on Friday,” said a clearly giddy Mommy Bear.
Teddy smiled and gave her a big warm hug before returning to Tom Duncan.

Late Friday evening, a sleepy Teddy Bear and his equally sleepy mommy boarded a plane. In the morning, they would land in London. Teddy’s mommy settled in her seat and decided to go over their plans one last time.
“Do you know what we’ll be doing in London?” she asked her son.
While it was true that their plans had been mentioned, Teddy hadn’t completely paid attention. So, he scrunched up his cute little face and said “no”.
Mommy Bear scrunched up her face and continued. “Well, first, we have to find Aunt Edna. She’s meeting us at the airport. You do remember that we’re staying with her?”
Teddy nodded.
“We’re going to Great St. Bart’s on Sunday. Because the bake off is on Monday, there might be a bit of prep work to do, okay?” When she looked down at her son, Mommy Bear discovered that little Teddy had fallen fast asleep.

With the arrival of Monday morning, came life to the Bear house. Mommy and her aunt had woken early to get ready for the exciting day ahead. When Teddy finally stirred, he was ushered out of the house and into the car.
“Do you remember what to do when you meet Princess Anne?” Teddy’s mommy asked, as she handed him some bumblebees to eat.
Teddy, remembering exactly what to do, bowed his head.
Smiling, she asked, “When you meet her, what do you say?”
Before getting comfortable, Teddy did his best to say, ‘Your Royal Highness’. As he drank his water, he began to zone out and think about the bake off and all the very delicious cakes.

Entering Great St. Barts, the Bears were met by their fellow congregants. Aunt Edna, being one of the bake-off contestants, was charged with setting up her station. Her niece and great nephew were to be her assistants.
When two black cars arrived, a crowd began to form. From the second car emerged Anne, Princess Royal. As she entered the church, she was welcomed by the Rector and guided to the kitchen.
Teddy felt a sharp elbow in his rib and looked up to see a smiling lady in a yellow jacket, greeting the other contestants. Remembering what his mommy said, the little bear stood tall, with his shoulders back. When Princess Anne came to their station, both bear women curtsied, and Teddy bowed his head.
“That birthday cake looks very delicious,” said the Princess Royal to Teddy. “Did you know that today is my birthday?”
Curious, both Aunt Edna and her niece looked at the cake and were stunned to discover that Teddy had written ‘Happy Birthday’ on the cake.
“Happy Birthday Ma’am,” said a delightfully unaware Teddy Bear.
